The Assistant Bishop of Kampala, Rt Rev. Canon Frederick Baalwa, has challenged Members of Parliament to speak up and make good laws for the country.

Baalwa posed the challenge while delivering his sermon at the commemoration of the Easter Carol Service to mark the resurrection of Jesus Christ, adding that the good deeds of the MPs in the 11th Parliament would be exemplified by other MPs who come after.

The service under the theme, “Christ Our Ultimate Peace” was organised by the Parliamentary Anglican Chaplaincy at the Parliament Conference Hall on Thursday, 26 March 2026.

The Bishop also comforted Members of the 11th Parliament who lost in the recently concluded general elections to have hope, saying “it is not the end of the world.”

He beseeched them to surrender everything to Christ, emphasising that if Christ is our ultimate peace, it demands that we put all our hope in him. “People who do not have hope, cannot have peace, because hope will make you push on, no matter the circumstances,” he said.

Baalwa likened his message to his personal experience, reflecting on his journey from Mukono to now Kampala as Bishop. “I am originally from Mukono Diocese and let me tell you I did not want to come to Kampala.  I knew everyone and everything in Mukono but I do not think I would have become Bishop if I had stayed in Mukono,” he said.

He added: “So brethren, when one door shuts, God opens another. Stop doubting and believe, have confidence in God because your God is alive.”

The service was attended by several MPs and guests including the Government Chief Whip, Hon. Denis Hamson Obua, also the Chair, Council, Anglican Parliamentary Chaplaincy.
